If you have ever watched Sex And The City, you will know the episode which is all consumed by the stigma attached to The Scrunchie, especially as we get older, how do we wear them? Well my approach to Hair Accessories is to wear them in a sartorial fashion, groomed and chic like the Parisians do. If your Hair is mid length - long, and you want to tye it up, why not try one? They are feminine, and can add a youthful presence to your style, however if Madonna in the eighties is flashing through your mind, don't worry, I will guide you:
Fine Silk or Smooth Velvet - These fabrics have a luxury to them, so choosing a high quality, soft looking texture, has a better finish over a plain cotton one.
Faux Leather - Is a nice contrast to that of the Hair, again with a touch of luxury, but more understated and cool. Goes well if you're wearing a soft textured top, as there's something about leather that just makes an outfit rock a bit more!
In terms of how to wear one, it's best to style low rather than high - with a high pony we are getting that feeling of the throwback again, so low, either a halfway pulled through ponytail or a low ponytail, sleek or soft will look just right. Pull some pieces out from your front hairline, or from by the sideburns if you want to soften the severity of an up-do. Tres Chic!
